I am restoring a 1974 VW left to me by my dad. I have no clue where to start. It has an engine, new paint job. Interior needs work. No gas tank. Looking for some help on where to start. Thought the club might offer some help.

Welcome to the club.Place to start would be to put a gas tank in it to make sure it runs good.Go through the brakes.Get it running and driving safely,then do the cosmetics.Main thing is to have fun with it.

Don't know how long it sat. My Dad said it was it was garage or barn kept. Tag says '87.

If we knew where are you located at, maybe one of the more experienced members of the club could stop by and give you an opinion on what is needed. I live in the Tomball area and occasionally have work days at my house.

Get some pictures of it up! (Like I can talk...I don't have any up of mine!)

Gas tank is easy, I am fairly inexperienced as well and I replaced my old one myself. I won't be much good in the way of informational help, but I will cheer you on!! :cheer2:

ya, if it has been sitting that long, you should change all the hoses, go thru the brakes, clean out the tank, change the oil.

is it a bus or??
