17th annual V-Dubs And Texas Nights hosted by the Houston VW Club!

Come see the only Summer Car Show that's Cool! V-DUBS & Texas Nights! It's the only summer show where sun protection is not a matter of survival. People actually walk around and see the cars without frying!

Saturday, September 26th, 2009. 6pm-10pm

All V.W. car show!

Free Admission for spectators.
$10 Entry Fee for show entry.
$5 PER CAR SLOT for Swap Meet entry.
No combined show with swap entries.

Classes:
Half Air-cooled and Half Water-cooled!
Best of Show
Best Air-cooled VW
Best Water-cooled VW
Top 15 Water-cooled
Top 15 Air-cooled
ugliest vw award


There will be the usual Participant-Judged VW car show and the V-DUB Lighting Competition! Separate competition from the other classes that highlights the best lighing effects on a Volkswagen vehicle. Self-sustained electrical power required - no external power sources allowed.

But Wait! We're not done yet! We've have one of the most exciting and fun activities to hit any car show, VW or other! The GERMAN FIRE DRILL!

Whatever you do, DON'T MISS THIS SHOW!

Please keep in mind that if you want to park next to your friend or club member's cars, please drive into the show area at the same time. We will not "save places" for cars not entering at the same time.

According to my gps it is a 453 mile 7 hour journey but I think we can make a weekend go of it and enjoy our time in Texas.

There's also a show the next day at Trader's Village. So it's 2 shows in one weekend. The shows are actually only a few miles apart so it's also convenient. Hope you can make them both!

it is minutes from our location, so anyone staying at a hotel in the area can easily hit both shows. here is the info from thesamba.

Start her off right. My 8 year old loves going to the shows and meeting new people. Your daughter will have plenty of kids to hang out with at the show.

*******UPDATE********

There will be a special buffet for the show, as they do not normally have a buffet on Saturday. Double Dave's buffet will include all you can eat pizza, salad and dessert along with either unlimited soda/tea or one draft beer for $9.00 per adult. The kid's buffet will be $4.50. Your hand will be stamped to identify those that have purchased the buffet.

Schedule of Events:

6:00 – Registration for the show and the eating contest opens
6:15 – Childrens Coloring Contest Begins
6:45 – Registration for Eating Contest Closed
7:00 – Pepperoni Rolls Eating Contest
7:30 – Hot Wheels Racing
8:00 – German Fire Drill Contest
8:00 – Registration Closes
8:30 – All Ballots must be turned in
9:00 – Lighting Contest
9:30 – Raffle Drawings immediately followed by trophy presentations

Show rules:

1. All entries must be VW based.
2. Entries will be placed in the show area on a first come basis. Those who wish to park together should show up together. No reserved spaces.
3. This show is participant judged.
4. All entries must remain in the show area throughout the show.
5. No outside alcohol allowed (Double Dave's will be selling beer)
6. No stereos to be played as there will be a DJ and announcements over a loud speaker.
7. No Glass Containers
8. Have a great time!

Also please note, show t-shirts will be printed on site this year, so there will not be leftovers after the show. Be sure to get yours the night of the show. The shirts will be $10.00 each.

Great fun, we really enjoyed it. The family only sees me thrashing and swearing on mine. They had no idea how much company I had.

We do this show for the fun, the people, the friendships and there may
even be a car in there somewhere.
Double Dave's is an awesome supporter and we look forward to next

Has anyone washed their show shirt yet? My wife just washed ours half the ink is gone:(

Just washed mine and it is ok, just seems a little of the cream/tan ink came off but nothing bad.

how many did this happen to? didnt yall buy a couple? we will get it figured out.

i wonder if others put them in the drier first or sit awhile before washed, it will set the ink, since that was the issue at the show, of not being able to use their heater.

I havnt worn mine yet. Courtney wore hers Sunday. It no longer says V-DUB . The V is almost almost all gone. The first 3 to 4 inches of the image is faded across the entire image. On the back almost half of Kermits logo is faded.

I put mine in the dryer for 20 minutes before I washed it to set the ink as someone as suggested and it still came off on the back and the left side, mostly the tan ink.
