:crutch: So as I sit here squinting at my comp with one eye, I wonder what the hell was I thinking!!! Yeah I usually always wear safety glases when grinding or cutting on something. But....... of course the one time I don't.......
So after going to the eye dr. and letting them dig around in my eye for about half and hr they sent me to an optomalogist and he got to clamp my freakin eye open. (like something out of A Clockwork Orange) Then he dug around in there some more and finally my eyeball is metal free and on the way to recovery. This all happened Thursday evening and finally I can open that eye again. It looks terrible but will heal fine. (I hope) :rip: So what is your story? What Dumb thing have you done that coulda turned out a lot worse :fear:

Middle of winter when I lived in Kansas, I blew the transfer case in my Toyota truck.Whili pulling the transfer case by hand while laying on my back in the snow, my hands slipped and it dropped straight onto my chest cracking my sternum. Nothing I could do but pull snow on top of me to numb the pain. There is nothing a doc can do for a cracked sternum except wrap it in a ace bandage and give aspirin.

This is by NO means bragging but I think that I have the whopper here.
The car was my 77 Camaro. I was at a friends place and had driven a
short distance to grab food or beer or something. When I got back in the
car, I started it and went to put the beast in gear. Nothing! The selector
slid back and forth as if it was not connected to anything. This is where
the "brain surgeon" part of the story comes in. I got out of the car, got
under the hood, then got under the car on the driver side to see what had
happened. Turns out the linkage had broken and was just barely in neutral.
All it took was my fumbling and touching the linkage to send the car in to
gear while I was under it. A split second later, I was rolling away from the
rear wheel that was about to make a speed bump out of me, on my feet
and running after my Chevy. I missed the car but the car did not miss a
Chevette that had just pulled in to the parking lot. That was a fun mess to
be in. Try explaining that to your insurance company.

Somehow I just knew that this post would generate some good stories. I actually knew a guy that did the same thing as mr. nomercy but he didnt get out of the way quick enough luckily he only broke his arm. I can just picture it and maybe im just a little bit sick because it makes me laugh just thinking about it (only because everyone is ok). Anywhere there is guys like us there will always be plenty of stories like this.
