A wave of cars filled the three lanes of westbound I-40 at the Hall of Fame Drive interchange. The procession was led by a Chevrolet Traverse, a Volkswagen Beetle and a Nissan Maxima — representing the three companies that build or will build autos in Tennessee — and began after officials punched a large, red button that also sent cannon-propelled confetti over the nearly 200 people invited to the ceremony.
